Course Description:
Biodynamics of Osteopathy: Mother, Children & Family will explore an approach to treating the pregnant patient, mother-baby as a unit, the family as a whole and post-partum considerations. This course is designed to provide the osteopath with a continued study of traditional methods in the biodynamic view of osteopathy as it relates to the treatment of children. Topics covered in lecture and practical will include: Working the direction of ease, motion present and the transmutative power of stillness. We will review embryologic forces of growth and development, synchronizing with the health, working from the meeting place, treatment of Mother, Child, Mother-Baby, the Family as a whole as well as post-partum considerations. There will be a hands-on clinic component with the opportunity to treat pregnant mothers, children and families.

Target Audience:
This course is designed for physicians (MD and DO) who desire to utilize osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) in their practice of treating the pregnant patient, newborns, postpartum considerations, and the family as a whole. Prerequisites:
No prerequisites required for the target audience. A 40-hour Basic Cranial Course and/or prior exposure to the Biodynamics of Osteopathy is suggested, but not required.
