Course Description:
This course delves into the intersection of perception, anatomy, and osteopathic principles to cultivate a deeper awareness of the body’s innate wholeness. Through an experiential approach, we explore key elements such as conscious listening, the interface between anatomy and perception, the dynamic relationship between tissue, fluid, and potency, and the integration of breath in physiological balance. Participants will engage with the principle of divided attention to access the wholeness of structure (space) and function (time), fostering a refined sense of osteopathic perception and therapeutic engagement. This exploration will be grounded in specific anatomical and scientific principles that will be presented throughout the course.
James Jealous, D.O., reminds us that “when you touch the Tide, you touch the intention of the Divine.” Guided by this wisdom, we will consider A.T. Still’s assertion that “the goal of the Osteopath is to find Health,” and explore William Sutherland’s insight that “within the … fluid there is an invisible element that I refer to as the ‘Breath of Life’.”
Designed for osteopaths seeking to deepen their sensory awareness and clinical presence, this course bridges anatomical understanding with the felt experience of the living body. While it is an advanced course intended for experienced osteopaths, all material will be taught at the tables in a way that is accessible to any level of experience.
